Teams are asked to research and produce a short TV programme strictly to time deadlines before going live to air at the close of the session.
This is as close as you can get to professional TV, with all kit and equipment supplied and the opportunity to work in a 3-camera studio, and/or in a full broadcast studio alongside experienced film professionals. Roles (see below) are allocated and the group has to work as an efficient and close-knit team to get their film ready for broadcast. A range of team skills including leadership, time management and communication are essential in getting the finished programme on air without any hitches. At the end of the day each recording is copied to DVD for the team to take away with them.
Participants take on the role of one or more of the following:
Director, PA, Vision mixer, Studio camera operator, Sound
engineer, Vision engineer, Presenter, Contributor, VT engineer,
Autocue operator, Floor manager, Lighting director, etc. Everyone
is given a chance to get involved and full training and safety
guidance is given throughout the day.
While this activity will produce great benefit on its own, we recommend a facilitator to achieve best results.
