Have you ever given a talk and wondered if your audience are really paying attention?
Here’s an exercise that will put them to the test.
• Copy the phrase ‘FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY, COMBINED WITH YEARS OF EXPERIENCE’ onto a slide.
• Before showing this to your audience tell them they must read the phrase and count how many letter Fs they see
• Show the slide for 15 seconds
• Most people will see three or four
• There are in fact six. Our brains skip the word ‘of’
