"To party or not to party?" - our Christmas survey results
Results from our Christmas party survey are still flooding in. It seems that people either love them or hate them!

Our results show that 88% of companies are planning a Christmas party of some sort and that, unsurprisingly, 92% of these are held in December.

This is great for venues, but may mean that you are not getting the best value for your money. If you hold your party in January, for example, venues are quieter which means you may get a better deal - plus it gives your staff something to look forward to after the Christmas buzz has passed.

It appears that the 'Christmas party' has become a little predictable with 38% of people commenting that their party 'is the same thing every year'.

When asked 'How do you feel about your Christmas Party?', just 46% of individuals responded that they were 'excited and looking forward to it', but a whopping 53% of people felt 'indifferent' or that it was a case of 'grin & bear it'!

Not great results considering that significant investment in terms of time and money is spent on such events.

Unfortunately this may be down to the fact that individuals feel that they are not being listened to and that they don't have a say; in fact, 58% of respondents said that their employer 'does not ask for ideas from staff' prior to arranging their Christmas party.

Our advice: to see benefits in the workplace listen to your staff and colleagues, don't plump for the predictable, and provide an experience that will be the talking point for years to come. Be bold - try an alternative Christmas event; you may be pleasantly surprised with the results.

After Party Remedy

It's common knowledge that a hearty breakfast and a long walk can help with a hangover. However, here's one we haven't heard before: rubbing lemon slices under your armpits! Sounds like a joke, but this is supposedly a top holistic hangover cure. The theory is that lemon juice helps you retain fluid which guards against dehydration, thereby staving off hangover headaches.
