Set Sail on the Solent

This activity demonstrates the benefits of teamwork under pressure in an unfamiliar environment.

Individuals will be trained in specific sailing skills on board racing yachts or a traditional 70ft gaff ketch. The boats can only sail if these skills are performed in harmony with one another. Several other challenges will be set during the day, followed by group feedback and evaluation after each task.

Activities include:
- Tacking the ship
- Scaling the mast to take an aerial team photograph
- Retrieving a dinghy
- Drawing up and implementing a plan to hoist 3 sails
- Mooring alongside a buoy
- Evacuating a casualty from below deck

While this activity will produce great benefit on its own, we recommend a facilitator to achieve best results.

We understand that when a team has fun, it becomes more effective and relationships grow stronger. Fresh Tracks bridge the gap between traditional classroom based team training and more physical outdoor team building experiences.
