HSBC Merchant Services would be changing their name to Global Payments in line with their US parent company. The process was part of an internal campaign and a full day was set aside for a management team event for the whole company to get everyone involved, excited and motivated about the name change.
Fresh Tracks was asked to develop a programme for this event, with content that reiterated the benefits of the name change and highlighted Global Payments’ mission and values. Above all it needed to be a fun activity that everyone would feel part of. This was a large scale programme with activities to run twice throughout the day, each time for over 200 participants.
The venue, the Leicester Tigers Stadium, had been booked by the client and offered a good space for the management team event. We started the day with a series of fun and light-hearted brand-based quizzes and competitions, looking at famous logos, catchphrases and TV adverts – from the classic to the comic. This part of the day highlighted the power of brands, opening up discussion among the group on the values of different brands and their role in creating a shared culture.
An art-based challenge then got the large groups working closely together and having fun as they created a series of large-scale paintings for the reception wall in each of the 3 office sites. Each team was responsible for recreating, on a 60 x 40cm canvas, one part of the image. When the individual canvases were fitted together at the end of the session, it formed a large and colourful painting to be displayed back at the office.
“The feedback from our staff has been very positive and it seems like everyone really enjoyed the day. It got everyone thinking about communicating and breaking down those perceived team/department barriers which was great to see. It also helped everyone to feel that they were part of our brand name change.”
In conclusion, the management team event was time well spent and great fun for all involved.
